Transaction Management in Active Heterogeneous Database Systems

چکیده
The heterogeneous environment is emerging in the current information systems. Within this situation, it is desirable to maintain consistency across databases, i.e., to ensure that they do not contradict each other with respect to the existence or value of real-world entity. Active rules have been widely used in the modern database systems. Active databases contain the capability to automatic monitor the conditions which defined over the database state and the ability to take an action when the state of the underlying database changes. They have provided a great contribution to the maintenance of data integrity and data consistency in database systems. This paper investigates a transaction mechanism for this new type environment.

A Semantic-Based Transaction Model for Active Heterogeneous Database Systems
This paper presents a framework to process the transactions under the active heterogeneous database systems. In order to perform a correct schedule of transactions with high performance, the framework provides a semantic-based concurrency control on the global level. It relaxes the correct criterion (global serializability) to allow the global sub-transactions on each site to execute in differe...
متن کاملA Active Federated Database Systems
Database management systems (DBMS) are becoming part of environments composed of large-scale distributed heterogeneous and networks of autonomous, loosely coupled components. In particular, federated database management systems (FDBMS) can be seen as networks that integrate a number of pre-existing autonomous DBMS which can be homogeneous or heterogeneous. They can use different underlying data...
متن کاملA hybrid approach for database intrusion detection at transaction and inter-transaction levels
Nowadays, information plays an important role in organizations. Sensitive information is often stored in databases. Traditional mechanisms such as encryption, access control, and authentication cannot provide a high level of confidence. Therefore, the existence of Intrusion Detection Systems in databases is necessary. In this paper, we propose an intrusion detection system for detecting attacks...
متن کاملA Parallel Logic Language for Transaction Specification in Multidatabase Systems
The realization of truely heterogeneous database systems is hampered among others by two obstacles. One is the unsuitability of traditional transaction models, this has lead to the proposal of a new more flexible transaction model. Th.e second is the fact that none of the existing language and system support such a flexible model. This paper addresses these two issues by proposing a logic appro...
متن کاملAtomic Commitment in Grid Database Systems
Atomic Commitment Protocol (ACP) is an important part for any distributed transaction. ACPs have been proposed for homogeneous and heterogeneous distributed database management systems (DBMS). ACPs designed for these DBMS do not meet the requirement of Grid databases. Homogeneous DBMS are synchronous and tightly coupled while heterogeneous DBMS, like multidatabase systems, requires a top layer ...
